New Year Poem: Raise Your Glass to Life

Happy New Year 2012

Another new year is upon us. It's hard to believe we are saying goodbye to 2011. It's time to refresh, re-energize, and begin to truly hold on to our special gift of life. Even when things get hard, we must realize, that life is a gift, even when the going gets tough. Raise your glass to life in the new year.

Raise Your Glass to Life

The time has come to raise our glass,
to say goodbye, to another year's past.

From all of the days, weeks and months we have lived through,
It's time to put it all behind us, and build new memories that will ring true.

Hold on to those moments that meant the most.
Store them in your heart and raise your glass for a meaningful toast.

Pray that life will bring you good health, keep your family and friends safe,
and bring happiness, as you take on another new year with a full embrace.

A new year gives us a chance for a fresh start,
and a reason to stay close to those that we love the most,
without the fear of ever having to part.

Life is sacred, a real gift that we should always care for.
While some days may feel long, time is actually quite short-
It's never quite long enough, as we find ourselves wishing for more.

Before the chiming clock strikes midnight,
Look in the blue sky above for those first stars that shine oh so bright.
Make a wish, and hold it close to your heart.

When we wish upon a star, it has been said that those dreams can come true.
A new year.
A new beginning.
Another reason for living.

Raise your glass.
Give thanks that God has given you the gift of life...
Living in all of his glory, nothing else shall ever surpass.

Christmas Love Poem on YouTube

Earlier, I published a blog post for my annual Christmas poem, "Christmas Love." I thought that I would read it aloud for all of my readers for you to enjoy. This was the first time I was trying out a new mic, so I realize the volume may be a little low. I will adjust this for the next time that I read a poem on YouTube.

Be sure to subscribe to my channel, as I plan on reading more of my poems on Youtube in the coming year.

I hope you all enjoy listening to "Christmas Love." Have a Merry Christmas.

2011 Annual Christmas Poem: Christmas Love

Every year, I look forward to writing a new Christmas poem. Somehow the spirit of Christmas catches me, and I come up with an inspiring piece. I include the poem in Christmas cards, and also read it my Christmas Eve service at church. For about the last 5 years or so, it's become an annual tradition of mine to share my poem at the Christmas Eve service. I enjoy sharing my "Christmas message" with friends and family every year.

Once again, I have come up with a new Christmas poem. I hope that all of you blog readers out there enjoy reading it. Perhaps it will provide some inspiration and pass on the Christmas spirit to you too.

Merry Christmas, may you all have a wonderful holiday with your family and friends...

Christmas Love

The Christmas season is about being with family...
And family is all about sharing love.
Each day, it is Jesus, who teaches us how.
He is our reason for celebrating Christmas,
Our Lord and Savior who reigns up above...

During that cold night that Mary and Joseph traveled to the inn,
they knew in their hearts, that something wonderful was about to begin.
The angels that they heard on high,
sang glorious songs from the heaven sky

As the time seemed to pass,
It was baby Jesus's cry that Mary and Joseph heard at last.
Joyful cries of halleluiahs were heard from all around.
As the new Babe of Bethlem was born,
We would learn that it was He who would wear the crown.

Christmas is the most wonderful time of the year,
as it is the day that we celebrate the birth of Christ.
Not only do we send good cheer,
But we spread the message, about the love of Jesus and why we are here.

Each Christmas, the smile we see upon a child's face,
reminds us of that special gift of life that Jesus has granted us.
He is the reason that we get to spend Christmas
with the ones whom we love and makes us feel safe.

The colorfully-wrapped presents that have been placed under the family tree
are reminders of the gifts that the wise-men brought to baby Jesus on the night he was born.
While it is a tradition to exchange gifts with our friends and family,
There is no better gift this Christmas,
than knowing that Jesus loves you and me.

Check Your Credit Score

Today, our credit score is more precious to us than ever. Banks are getting stricter with their loan policies, and many of us are pinching pennies. While I don't think we have experienced the Great Depression like our great-great grandparents experienced in the 1920's...we have come awfully close.

Checking your credit at least once a year is also important with the rising problems of identity theft. Identity theft can happen to anyone at any time. Every year, you are allowed to check your credit report. Some companies will even give you your free credit score.

I myself am a victim of identity theft. I was in my early 20's trying to get a loan to pay off my braces. It was great that my loan officer knew my family personally and had known that we hadn't lived anywhere else but Illinois. There were debts owed to utility companies in Texas and a few other places. It was hectic trying to get those removed from my credit report. I had to mail letters showing proof of where I lived and my identity.

If you are interested in more about your credit report, you should file to receive your FreeScore.  Finding out where you stand with your credit is very important -Not to mention-making sure nobody has stolen your identity.

Shout-Out to Blue Sky Scrubs: Need Scrubs?

If you are just starting out a new job as an RN or working in a nursing home, or anywhere else that you need a pair of scrubs, you should check out Blue Sky Scrubs at: http://www.blueskyscrubs.com/categories/Scrubs/Scrubs-for-Men/

Many of the jobs that are still in need are RN's. If you have had training and attended school for the position, then you may be in luck. With an economy that has been shaky, and the U.S. feeling the recession, jobs have been lacking-but one job that always seems to be in need is an RN.

As you begin your new RN position and you need nurse uniforms and supplies, then you can take your shopping list to Blue Sky Scrubs.
